G & R Endurance Horse Racing http://jumpingsun.com/blog/2008/07/01/g-r-endurance-horse-racing/ http://jumpingsun.com/blog/2008/07/01/g-r-endurance-horse-racing/#comments Tue, 01 Jul 2008 21:10:52 +0000 JumpingSun Webmaster http://jumpingsun.com/blog/2008/07/01/g-r-endurance-horse-racing/ The G&R endurance horse racing team are from Tinian, New Mexcio, USA. Often referred to as the Pony Express, teams enter 3-6 horses to run 6-13 miles a leg depending on event sponsors. G&R primarily race in southwestern USA and have become consultants to local events and organizations regarding this sport. G&R is also featured in the New Mexico Tourism website.

On August 26, 2008 Gibson & Renee Ignacio featured their first Horse Race on their ranch in Tinian, New Mexico.  They primarily were consultants and helped organized area races, but dreamed of sponsoring an event themselves.  They successfully organized the G&R Horse Race and gave out a WW 16′ Horse Trailer as first prize!  They also featured Dave Peterson, Pro Rodeo announcer, as the announcer of the event. We look forward to next year and hope you will come out to the beautiful southwest!

2008 World Premiere : : Common Ground : : Cuba, New Mexico USA http://jumpingsun.com/blog/2008/06/19/2008-world-premiere-common-ground/ http://jumpingsun.com/blog/2008/06/19/2008-world-premiere-common-ground/#comments Thu, 19 Jun 2008 14:59:57 +0000 JumpingSun Webmaster http://jumpingsun.com/blog/2008/06/19/2008-world-premiere-common-ground/ On the afternoon and evening of June 7, 2008 at the Sandoval County Fairgrounds in Cuba, New Mexico, USA, Dine’ (Navajo), Hispanic, and Anglo community members from northwestern New Mexico presented a festival of personal stories, video & film, music, and visual arts. The event was free and open to the public. This festival, directed and facilitated by Littleglobe’s Common Ground Project, was the inspiring result of a six-month collaborative project between artists and community members of all ages.

We were privileged to participate in such a creative expo of ideas and talents. The Jumping Sun team worked in part with the Common Ground Project by creating an informational website. Participants listed ideas for a website name and decided on www.letstoc.org. This is an acronym for bridging participants in the surrounding communities of Torreon, Ojo Encino, and Cuba through the internet.

Students from the three school sites were able to connect to the letstoc website and view session meeting dates, locations for these sessions, and post general comments and/or ideas. The Littleglobe team were also able to connect to participants through this medium easily. Michael Shopenn from Denver, Colorado provided professional images of the festival and are able to be viewed on the Jumping Sun website.
